The English Beat

The English Beat burst onto the British music scene with the 2-Tone ska explosion of the late '70s and early '80s. While many of their contemporaries imploded after making their initial splash, The English Beat distanced themselves with carefully crafted pop and soul songs. The band scored numerous singles in the British pop charts and became a staple on American college radio with Mirror in The Bathroom and Save it For Later. After the band disolved in '83, vocalists Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger went on to form General Public who recorded the U.S. radio hit Tenderness. The band will be playing selections from both The English Beat and General Public.
The Steepwater Band

These Chicago based road dogs have managed to release eight studio LPs and one live LP in the last decade while maintaining a grueling tour schedule playing with the likes of ZZ Top, Drive By Truckers, North Mississippi All Stars and more. Their latest LP, Clava, finds them hitting their artistic stride with a combination of classic blues rock, Americana and pyschedelia. Their live show is not to be missed.
